Moulitsas the cosmopolitan: “In addition to [El Salvador and Germany], I’ve spent time in the Netherlands, Italy, Czech Republic, Yugoslavia (pre-break up), Mexico, Canada, East Germany (I was at the Berlin Wall days after it fell), Canada, and the Republic of Texas (which has flown five nations’ flags, can you name them all?).” First, that’s not well-traveled — this is well-traveled. Second, Texas is commonly thought to have had six flags flown over it — where did he get five? — and the number goes to eight if you count the Republic of the Rio Grande and the abortive Fredonian Republic. Boasting of your travel prowess and simultaneously botching key points about the places you’ve been — well, what does it say about the value of that travel to the braggart?

  • I was a Hillary Clinton supporter — inasmuch as I thought she would be easiest to beat — until the past month. Back in March, several friends told me that the polling indicates that Obama will be easier to knock off, and at the beginning of May, the data swayed me to their view. Lo, it is happening, and though we don’t deserve it, we now have a shot in November.

  • Chris Bowers loves Googlebombing, and he’s at it again. But is there any data to suggest that it achieves anything? And to pull back a bit, is there any data to suggest that Internet-search results affect, you know, voting? In the absence of either, this seems mostly like a way for online-activist types to pretend they’re doing something.
